Protection of Cultural Heritage in International Law

In the final qualifying work "International legal protection of cultural heritage" the goal was to figure out why the cultural heritage is value to human society, as well as what methods the international community uses for its legal protection. A theoretical study was carried out on the basis of legal acts, scientific and educational literature. The object of scientific research was public relations, emerging in the process of legal protection of cultural heritage at the national and international levels. The subject of the study was international and regional treaties, customary laws, national legislation that determine the status of cultural heritage, its protection, as well as issues of processing transactions with cultural property, return and restitution of stolen or otherwise illegally exported cultural property. The aim of the study was to establish the legal status of the cultural heritage, its composition, as well as to identify the legal basis and trends in the international legal protection of cultural heritage.
