Chinese students abroad: the formation of future strategies (2010-2020)

There is more and Chinese students enrolling in Russian and US universities nowadays. A part of them is planning to settle in the receiving country for future life and career development. This paper is doing a research on the problem of the formation of “life trajectories” of Chinese students getting a degree in Russian and US universities. According to the findings of the paper, the main factors influencing Chinese students’ decision to go to the host country with the aim of getting a degree or searching for a job are presented. These factors influence the satisfaction rates of education quality and quality of life the Chinese students are expecting from the host country. The conclusion about the attractiveness of Russian and US education for Chinese students is made, as well as the analysis of the prevalent future development strategies that exist among modern Chinese students.
