In my final qualifying work, I studied the phenomenon of the “tribal curse” on the example of a famous American family whose last name is closely related to this phenomenon. The theoretical part presents various points of view on this issue in the context of the psychoanalytic approach. Presented are modern ideas of what psychic material is transmitted from parents to children (and further), and also a place is allocated precisely for the transmission of the “curse” and how it is presented in the human psyche. A short historical digression gives an idea of the place that this issue occupies in psychology, as well as the degree of development of ideas about this phenomenon and the potential for studying it. The examples are described and interpreted when children pay for past “sins” of their fathers, and then their children. Attention is paid to filling the "curse" and the methods of its transmission from generation to generation. The “terms and quality of life” of this phenomenon are determined. In the empirical part, I turn directly to the history of the tragedies that occurred in the Kennedy family in the 60s of the last century. I study and analyze how a series of dramatic events affected one direct participant (Robert Kennedy Jr.), as well as other members of this family. I present an analysis of the “curse”, its filling and the attitude of family members towards it, and I ask myself whether the punishment for the “sins of the fathers” really takes place. I come to the conclusion that the “curse” was most likely created artificially by the hands of journalists who gravitate towards mystification. I pay special attention to how a series of misfortunes influenced (and continues to affect) Robert's life, work and social activities. I give an analysis of my feelings from cooperation with the organization that he leads, as well as from direct communication with the leader. Of course, the main task of my work and research is to confirm or refute the hypothesis: is the method of psychoanalysis applicable to the study of such a phenomenon as the “curse of the genus” in reality. My hypothesis is confirmed, but I also notice small missing links, which it is not possible to obtain in the framework of this study.
