Such phenomena as bilingualism and interference have been analyzed by many linguists. But the speech of bilingual speakers living outside the natural language environment remains poorly researched. This study examines the features of Russian-Tatar interference and typical errors in the speech of informants who live in St. Petersburg and speak two languages. The research material is sound recordings of spontaneous speech of bilingual speakers. The first part of Chapter 1 analyzes the main terms: bilingualism, language contact, code switching, and interference. The second part of Chapter 1 is devoted to the search for differences between the systems of Russian and Tatar languages. Chapter 2 describes all the components of an experimental study: methods, characteristics of informants, and results. In Conclusion, the results of the experiment are analyzed in accordance with the hypotheses and goals set in the Introduction.
