Dating simulator is a genre of computer games, the plot and purpose of which focuses on achieving success in romantic relationships. This genre has existed for a long time, but it has hardly changed in any way for the time of its existence. Due to this fact, it has a number of cliches that appears in every game of this genre. The goal of my project is to break the usual pattern in dating simulators and add non-genre-specific details, creating more than just a dating simulator. To achieve this goal, I will analyze the literature about this genre and explore some examples of the most popular dating simulators. I’m going to compare typical and atypical examples and try to find my own ways to destroy the established cliches.
