Year of Graduation: 2021

International trade is historically the first and most developed form of international economic relations. International trade expands and strengthens the international division of labor, determining what is more profitable for a country to produce and under what conditions to exchange resources. Simultaneously with the development of trade, the means of its regulation were formed. A fairly popular tool for achieving geopolitical goals in the modern world has become the conduct of a trade war – an increase in import customs duties, the introduction of tariff restrictions and technical barriers. All these measures are primarily aimed at eliminating economic and political competitors and ensuring national interests. In this paper, we studied the trade conflict between the United States and China, its consequences and impact on each of the parties. The first chapter examines the history of trade wars, the prerequisites for the emergence of a trade war between China and the United States. The second chapter is devoted to the analysis of trade and economic consequences for each participant of the conflict. The third chapter examines possible scenarios for the development of relations between countries.
