Managing a CMS (Content Management System) Implementation Project in IT-Company

In recent years, the Russian e-commerce market has shown active growth. One of the major players in the e-commerce market is "SberMegaMarket". The organisation has a Product Catalogue Management Department, which works with product cards and is responsible for creating and filling product categories. Since its inception, the company uses a content management system (CMS), it contains all the information about the products presented on the marketplace. Over the four years of its existence, the number of product categories presented on the site, and products, respectively, has increased significantly. At the moment, the content management system in use does not meet the desired requirements of staff, failing regularly, which reduces the efficiency of the entire department. In this regard, there is a need to launch a project to implement a new system that will implement the necessary tools for web merchandising, provide a convenient and transparent assortment entry for the "SberMegaMarket", as well as generate reports to track information about the business processes and their effectiveness. The aim of this consulting work is to develop recommendations for project management of CMS implementation in organisation. The proposed recommendations will allow to manage the project aimed at improving the key performance indicators of the employees of the Product Catalogue Management Department. As a result of the research the methodological approaches to managing information systems implementation projects were studied, the iteration model of the information system life cycle was selected, the activities of the company and the Merchandise Catalogue Management Department were analyzed, the content of the CMS implementation project was determined and the project documentation was developed. The work consists of an introduction, three chapters of the main part, conclusion, list of references and appendices. The first chapter of this paper provides definitions of terms used, considers basic information systems lifecycle models, and methodological approaches to project management of information systems implementation. The second chapter describes the company, describes the main activities of the Product Catalogue Management Department, identifies the tasks of employees who are potential users of the CMS, and highlights the necessary functionality of the future system. The third chapter describes the course of the interviews and questionnaires and the results, the project charter is developed, and recommendations for project management are given.
