The events of the last two years are forcing companies to look for the most adaptive and versatile leader, able to effectively manage the team and at the same time remain in harmony with himself. A high level of adaptability is one of the components of the personality of a modern effective manager. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors of modern manager’s adaptability, which were formed earlier and are now affecting the current management activities. The paper sets the following tasks: in the theoretical part – to study different approaches of understanding the phenomenon of adaptability, including psychoanalytic one, taking into account modern views and systematizing the first, and in the practical part – studying each client case with several methods. As part of the study, four cases were taken into work, where each of the cases went through three stages, including quantitative, qualitative and expert methods of analysis. The significance of attachment as an important aspect of adaptability, which is directly related to the dissertation hypotheses, was also explored. The results obtained confirm the hypotheses about two key factors of manager's adaptability: the ability to rely on internal objects and to be dependent on external objects. This work can stimulate the introduction of psychoanalytic coaching in Russian organizations to develop a new approach in increasing the adaptability of managers and, accordingly, improve the well-being of the employee and the company as a whole.
