This study is aimed at studying the main factors that stimulate the viewer to watch content in the "sci-fi" genre. The audience's experience regarding the features of "sci-fi" genre’s content and the factors of its popularity in Russian market’s streaming services were analyzed on the basis of data obtained as a result of the exploratory design using the quality -> quantity scheme, including the encoding of in-depth interviews by the Grounded Theory method. To test the established hypotheses, this study uses a quantitative method, including an online survey of users who have watched/are watching movies and/ or series in the "sci-fi" genre on Russian streaming services.
