Entering the Labor Market for Young People with Mental Disabilities: Professional Orientations, Ways and Support

Today, the social policy of the state focuses on promoting the inclusion of young people with disabilities in the professional environment. This work is devoted to studying the problem of entering the labor market of young people with mental disabilities. The issue of employment of people with disabilities is considered within the framework of the concept of the social model of the perception of disability, as well as the constructivist approach and from the point of view of the processes of social integration and inclusion. The paper considers the existing practices of promoting the employment of young people with intellectual disabilities both on the part of the state and on the part of non-profit organizations, specialized centers and employers. An attempt is made to describe possible ways to enter the labor market through three types of employment: open, protected and supported. In addition, through the prism of the experience of the informants, the understanding of work and the difficulties faced by young people are examined.
