Methods of Attracting Attention in Modern English and Spanish Media Discourse

This research is aimed to study methods of attracting attention in modern English and Spanish media discourse in terms of different linguistic levels: phonetics, phonology, prosody, word formation, grammar, syntax, lexis, semantics, and stylistics. The material is taken from videos of public speeches of the most influential people in English and Spanish media discourse such as Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, Satya Nadella, Amancio Ortega, Ángeles Delgado, and others over the period of 2005-2021 in modern mass media. The thesis consists of the introduction, the literature review covering specific terms, the data analysis part which contains methodology and presents the analysis of the speeches based on various relevant classifications, the conclusion, and a reference list. As a result, the analysis will show the most viable methods of attracting public’s attention and the possibilities of implementing them when writing future public speeches.
