This paper focused on the design of the covers of books in the young-adult segment. The purpose of this work was to identify the key elements of young-adult literature covers that influence purchase intentions. For this purpose, a mixed design study was conducted. First, a quantitative content analysis was conducted in order to determine the most frequent attributes of the covers, and then the qualitative phase revealed the attitudes towards these elements in the target audience of this genre. The results obtained allowed us to form an idea of the coincidence of the current publishing trends in the young-adult literature segment with the perception of the audience.
