Formation of Political Literacy Among High School Students in Extracurricular Activities

The master's thesis is to develop and implement a program of extracurricular activities on the formation of political literacy "Country of Opportunities" for students of the ninth grade. The problem of the study is that the generation of modern Russian schoolchildren has weak ideas about the political sphere of society and is poorly oriented in the modern realities of government and the international situation. In the course of the study, a comprehensive study of psychological and pedagogical literature and normative legal documents was implemented, on modern requirements for the results of education and upbringing at school, the necessary competencies for the course of social studies and, in particular, knowledge and skills on the topic of politics. The need to work in this direction is connected with the social order of the management of MBU "School 44" G.O.Tolyatti, as well as meeting the needs of students in grades 8-9 of secondary schools, as future graduates of primary school, who often choose social studies as one of the additional subjects to choose from, citizens of their country and upcoming participants in electoral cycles exercising their right to vote. In order to achieve the goal and solve the tasks set, an extracurricular form of activity was chosen as one of the components of actual school education. The implementation and testing of the extracurricular activities program during 2023 demonstrated an increase in the level of interest and knowledge on the topic of politics on the part of schoolchildren. This was revealed during the tests and questionnaires, as well as the tasks of the trial OGE in social studies. The program was highly appreciated at the methodological meetings of the MBU "School 44" and received a high expert assessment from colleagues teaching a social studies course at the main school of Togliatti. If possible, the program of the extracurricular activity course "Land of Opportunities", aimed at the formation of political literacy of high school students, will be included in the curriculum.
