US Foreign Policy in Latin America in Comparison to the Monroe Doctrine

This paper studies the connections between support for Monroe Doctrine-like policies and the political polarization within the US. Pre-existing literature was studied to look into the history behind the Monroe Doctrine, political polarization in the US, and the connections between think tanks and policy making. Articles from right wing thing tanks were analyzed to determine opinion on the Monroe Doctrine. Research into the authors of the articles was also done to determine any financial or political history that might influence opinions. Overall it was found that there is a connection between some right wing think tanks and support for the Monroe Doctrine
