This study focuses on the Middle East and North Africa region. This thesis will talk about this region from the point of view of the issue of democratization. The purpose of this work is to find out why the world of Islam has been left out of the democratization processes and why the countries of this region have not come to democratic rule. The hypothesis of the work consists of two parts. The first part of the answer to the question highlights the religious factor as a factor that prevented most countries in the region from coming to democratic rule. The factor of Islam will be considered from two sides. First of all, from a theoretical point of view: part of the work will be devoted to the study of political Islam and its influence on the formation of modern management models in the region. Also, the factor of Islam will be considered from a practical point of view: the work will compare the level of democracy in the country and compare it with the role of Islam in a particular country. Thus, a link will be drawn between the secularization of society and democracy. The second part of the hypothesis is the role of two powerful autocracies - Iran and Saudi Arabia. The study will write about the evolution of their foreign policy since the beginning of the Cold War between these two countries. Also, the work will help to find out whether there is a definite connection between the policies of authoritarian regimes and the spread of authoritarian practices in the region. As a result of the study, the hypothesis was confirmed.
