Features of the European Union's Foreign Policy in the Indo-Pacific Region in 2018-2023

This research is devoted to the analysis of the features of the European Union's foreign policy in the Indo-Pacific region in 2018-2023. The purpose of this work is to determine the specifics of the European Union's foreign policy in the Indo-Pacific region. Research question: How did the transformation of the course of the European Union's foreign policy in the Indo-Pacific region take place? The hypothesis of the study is the statement that the European Union has changed its approach to the implementation of initiatives in the Indo-Pacific region from technical to regulatory and institutional. The technical approach refers to various initiatives aimed at creating an environmental-friendly system. The regulatory and institutional approach in this case implies a transition to economic and secure-based cooperation. The objectives of the work are: 1) defining aspects of the European Union's participation in the Indo-Pacific Strategy, 2) studying and evaluating European Union initiatives in the region, 3) determining how the priorities of the European Union's policy in the Indo-Pacific region have changed. In this work, a qualitative analysis of texts and content analysis of the strategies of the European Union, France, Germany and the Netherlands was carried out in order to get an idea of changes in the foreign policy course. The results of the study provide an answer to the question that the EU's policy has become more based on ensuring security. At the same time, the hypothesis was confirmed that in the context of the evolution of strategic documents, the European Union has changed its approach from technical things towards ensuring security and economic development, thereby promoting regulatory and institutional initiatives.
