This paper aimed to identify as to whether the reaction to the 2015 migrant crisis result in meaningful transformation and evolution of the European policy towards migration. To summarize, what was discovered is precisely the opposite. Despite the completion of the most recent iteration of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, already accepted, remnants of clauses and mechanisms from the Dublin Treaty persist. It must be noted that the Dublin Convention, a document conceived in 1990, implemented in 1997, and promptly slated for reevaluation due to its evident shortcomings, effectively continues to exist. A quarter-century have passed since the initial objective of establishing a just Common European Asylum System was set; however, the fundamental tenets remain uncontested. Conversely, the legislators opted to evade and circumvent the matters at hand by presenting only trivial amendments. Even the 2015 refugee crisis of ultimately did not prompt the EU legislators to change their standpoint and finally revise the key tenets of migration procedures. As a result, the oncoming crisis, at this point hardly avoidable, is met with legislation which appears to be specifically put in place in order to formally justify the ineffectiveness of the system.
