Actual Issues of Legal Regulation of Accounts in Social Networks

Despite the fact that virtual property has become of interest to participants in civil transactions, jurisprudence is taking only the first steps towards regulating the legal status of these objects. One of these assets is an account in social networks. The purpose of this work is to analyze an account in a social network as an object of civil law in Russia and foreign countries. As part of the study, a definition of an account and a profile in social networks were researched, and the idea of identifying a profile as an object of civil rights was proposed. In addition, we have analyzed the capabilities of users in the fight against social network operators who impede the exercise of rights to manage accounts both during the lifetime and in the event of the death of the user.
