Computer Programs as an Object of Intellectual Property

The work is devoted to the consideration of computer program as an object of intellectual property. An important part of the study is the analysis of the peculiarities of the legal regime of the computer program. The object of the study is directly computer program, "represented in objective form a set of data and commands designed for the functioning of computers and other computer devices in order to obtain a certain result, including preparatory materials obtained during the development of the computer program, and generated by it audiovisual displays". The subject of the course work is a computer program as an object of intellectual property rights. According to the results of the study the following tasks were achieved: the history of the formation of the model of legal protection of computer program in Russia and abroad was considered; the place of computer program in the system of intellectual property objects was determined and the legal regime of computer program was considered, as well as legislative regulation in this area; computer program was considered as an object of copyright and patent law; judicial practice on the issue of legal protection of computer program was analyzed.
