Jewelry Brand and Collection of Items Intimately Connected With the Body

Student: Bakanenko Kira

Faculty: Faculty of Creative Industries

Educational Programme: Design (Bachelor)

Final Grade: 10

Year of Graduation: 2024

The principal focus of this study is to analyse and demonstrate the point at which the practical (protective) function of armour gives way to aesthetic value, and armour becomes a status element and a kind of jewellery. By shifting attention from the function of armour to its appearance, the author aims to extract information that will be useful for the development of a graduate qualification work, the basis of which will be the creation of a brand and a collection of jewellery. The concept of jewellery is founded upon the close and unusual interaction with the body, from which the interest in armour – objects that shackle a person in metal – emerges. In the process of working on a visual study, the author seeks to identify references to the contact between steel and the human body.
