Since the media is the public's primary source of information, it plays a crucial role in covering the worldwide agenda in the current world of technological advancement and expanding Internet accessibility. It is precisely how the media forms news for its readers that affects the perception of a particular information by society and what emotions this information will cause them. Due to the wide accessibility and easy reach of the audience, the promotion and review of environmental issues through media sources is a suitable option to increase awareness among the population of our planet about the environmental threats occurring on them. When Japan announced the dumping of Fukushima contaminated water, treated by the Japanese government and TEPCO, the regional media exploded with a number of articles on the topic, showing huge concern about the issue. The analysis of the Korean and Chinese media will allow us to get as close as possible to understand exactly how this event shapes the current climate in the region, how regional discourse is formed, to find out the opinion of the public and the willingness of countries to cooperate to resolve this issue in order to prevent serious environmental consequences.
