Dynamics of the Feminist Movements Representation in the Georgian Media in 2013-2023

The study elaborates upon the dynamics of the feminist movements’ coverage in Georgian media in 2013-2023. The objective of the research is to determine changes in the representation of the feminist demonstrations in Georgian media throughout the 10-year period from 2013 to 2023. The methods applied in the research is content analysis. The first chapter of the study provides the definition of the term "feminist movement" and speaks on the historical development of feminism as a social movement including the periodization, whereas in the second chapter the impact of media on feminism is examined. In the empirical part of the research selected Georgian media outlets devoted to feminist protests are analysed in accordance with the methodology. Therefore, the study finds out key patterns and trends of the feminist movements’ representation in the Georgian media and showcases how this local dynamics correlates with the global models and traditions of the feminist movements’ media coverage.
