Student: Polina Ishanova

Supervisor: Dmitry Evstafiev

Faculty: Faculty of Creative Industries

Educational Programme: Journalism (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2024

The final qualifying work focuses on the development of the YouTube program in the genre of biographical storytelling, titled "Polunotnie Istorii" ("Midnote stories"). The aim of the project is to engage a young audience with stories from the lives of Russian composers, showing their journey filled with love, friendship, challenges, and setbacks. The uniqueness of the project stems from the combination of traditional journalistic fact-checking techniques with artistic storytelling. The final product consists of two episodes, each lasting approximately 20 minutes, which focus on the lives of Sergei Rachmaninoff and Dmitry Shostakovich. The theoretical note explores the concept of memory and its various types within the field of memory studies. It also examines the role of audiovisual projects in mediating collective memory and the historical development of the biography genre and its application in contemporary media projects. The project note describes all stages of the research process, including an analysis of the target audience and market, the rationale for selecting the format, and the work plan for each stage of production. It also outlines the specific roles played by the authors. The legal note addresses the main legal considerations that may arise in relation to creating such a project. The abstract and links to relevant sources are included in the creative section of the paper.
