Production of a Music Video for an Artist

Student: Lbova Ekaterina

Supervisor:

Faculty: Faculty of Creative Industries

Educational Programme: Media Communications (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2024

This project aims to create and produce a music video as a promotional tool for a web series that the artist plans to drop independently after the video's release. The video for the song "Everything" will mark a new stage in the artist's creative journey — a transition from the popular "show-off" image in the rap industry to the trend of "new sincerity". The video will include real-life features from the artist's life as well as references to episodes from the upcoming web series. The project's creative novelty is its unique approach to video creation, as the video serves as a part of the artist's overall media product ecosystem, introducing the universe of lyrical characters from the track about Nastya. The music video for the song "Everything" is a story about two lovers who meet through book notes but whose relationship is questioned by a coincidence. To meet the demands of the modern media market, a 360-degree communication strategy has been developed for this project, including the music video itself, as well as a snippet, behind-the-scenes video, behind-the-scenes photos, and a poster for the video. The theoretical part of the project delves into the history of the music video format, explores the roots of storytelling, and analyzes all aspects of a producer's work. The practical part of the project outlines all stages of video production: preparation, pre-production, production, and post-production. Particular attention is also paid to analyzing the competitive media environment in which music videos are currently released, as well as to the product promotion plan. The final project is a 3-minute and 15-second music video for the track "Everything".
