Emotional and Psychological Storytelling in Lyrics: Analyzing the Impact on Female Audience (by the Example of KRYUKOV EP Production)

This research devotes to the study of the impact of emotional-psychological storytelling on the state of women. It hypothesizes that storytelling in song lyrics can introduce female listeners into different emotional states. Chapter one examines a body of literature on the topic of storytelling in music and song lyrics, and narratively analyzes the album by female artist Mary Gu to understand how the current pop music marketplace creates songs with storytelling that enhances the interest of the audience. Chapter two analyzes a series of interviews conducted with experts from the show business industry (sound design, songwriting, production, cover performance and others) who shared information on the topic of the influence of emotional storytelling in song lyrics on women's psychological well-being. Chapter Three provides more details about the project created as the result of this study, a music album consisting of seven songs. The chapter also presents the results of test of the album on a focus group consisting of 8 people, that were specially selected after the analysis of the target audience of this product. The focus group participants shared their opinion about the final product and also answered questions about storytelling in the lyrics of the songs and their impact on them. The conclusion emphasizes the results of this study.
