Nowadays there are more projects in media culture that promote the concept of social inclusion in order to eliminate inequality between segments of the population, develop an unbiased and tolerant attitude towards others and increase the visibility of people who differ from others in various factors. In particular, the contingent of people who have mental disorders is also affected. In Russia, the destigmatization of psychiatry and mental disorders is an essential step that contributes to improving the psychological well-being of the population, however, without correct methods and forms of media support, the oppression of people with mental disorders may continue. This work is devoted to the topic of representation of mental disorders in modern media culture, mainly in the Russian segment, with a brief analysis of foreign projects. As part of the study of this aspect of media discourse, the volume of representation circulating in media culture and how this representation works are taken into account. Special attention is paid to the effects of inclusion and inclusive practices that appear in media culture. The main purpose of the work is to determine how representation works and what effects it has. The research reveals the specifics of the representation of mental disorders in modern mass media in order to find an answer to the question whether inclusive discourse corresponds to the ideas of increasing visibility. The results of the study can be applied in practice in order to develop inclusive practices in media culture in the right direction, based on the applicability of the identified methods and structures in current projects.
