This work explores the image of a comedic hero in modern Russian pieces of cinematography released between 2022 and 2023. This paper contributes to the professional field of the film industry by expanding the understanding of what a comedic character should look like in Russian films. The main purpose of this work is to trace whether the comedic characters in modern Russian films of 2022-2023 have undergone any changes compared to the classic comedic hero. The research is based on two key methods: genre and narrative analysis. The first part focuses on the theoretical study of humour and the origin of the comedy genre, while the second part analyses films and identifies the characteristics that comedic characters are to have in Russian films. However, there is a limitation in the use of foreign literature due to the situation on the political arena. As a result of the study, we plan to examine whether the canons of the comedy characters have changed in modern Russian films, and if so, in what ways. Ultimately, the research presents significant and conclusive results pertaining to the theoretical discourse on the specifics of the comedy genre in Russian films of 2022 and 2023.
