Determinants of Housing Provision in Russian Regions

The final qualifying work is devoted to the analysis of the determinants of housing provision for the population of Russian regions. The study focuses on socio-economic and demographic factors that can affect the level of housing affordability. The relevance is explained by significant regional differences in living conditions, which directly affect the social stability and economic development of the country. The paper considers such important aspects as the impact of migration processes, changes in the demographic structure of the population, as well as the level of urbanization on housing conditions in various regions. The study includes descriptive and regression analyses based on data from the Federal State Statistics Service from 2008 to 2022, as well as other official sources. The Python and Stata programming languages were used for data processing. The results of regression analysis using a panel data model with fixed effects confirmed the importance of the factors under consideration to explain the differences in housing provision by region. A model for rural areas, a model for urban areas and a model with a combined variable were evaluated. Four main hypotheses concerning the impact of regional economic development, the effectiveness of housing policy, income levels and unemployment on housing security have been tested. The results of the study emphasize the importance of an integrated approach to the development of housing policy in various regions of Russia.
