Impact of Companies' Relatedness in M&As on their Performance: Evidence from Technological Sector

Mergers and acquisitions (M&As) are a universally recognizable way of strategic development that is utilized by companies around the globe in order to reach a multitude of goals. Two of the main categories of those objectives are diversification and integration. The decision to engage in M&A activity is affected by a lot of various factors, which include market conditions, macroeconomic dynamics, and industrial outlook. The goal of this study is to establish connection, or prove absence of connection, between different stages of economic cycle and prevalent M&A motives by comparing different relatedness measures and by observing the impact of relatedness on M&A valuation metrics, as well as other deal parameters.
