Innovations in Non-profit Organizations in Russia

This research is devoted to identifying and analyzing successful practices of creating digital innovations in Russian SONPOs. The relevance of the research lies in identifying factors and successful practices that can potentially increase the level of innovativeness of Russian SONPOs. The aim of the research is to assess successful practices of digital innovation creation in Russian SONPOs. The objectives of the study are to compile a list of successful practices of creating innovations based on digital technologies by Russian SONPOs, to identify the factors that influenced the success of digital innovations implementation by Russian SONPOs, and to formulate recommendations for the public, private and the non-profit sector itself to create conditions for the successful development of digital innovations in SONPOs. A practical problem is to assess the success of the development of digital innovations by Russian SONPOs and their contribution to the country's economy and solving society's problems. A multiple case study was conducted in the course of which the identified SONPOs were grouped into three groups according to their success rate. It was proven that only charitable foundations with large amounts of funding relative to the industry can afford to develop and launch digital innovations. Moreover, it was proved that the most common digital innovations implemented by Russian NPOss are digital platforms. It was also proved that funding from the government or business is a key factor for successful implementation of digital innovations in charitable foundations. At the end of the work recommendations were given for SONPOs, government and business to improve the innovativeness of SONPOs.
