Factors of Electoral Behavior in Regional Elections in the Context of Patronage Politics (Evidence from Gubernatorial Elections in the Russian Federation)

This paper will examine the topic of electoral behavior in Russian gubernatorial elections in the context of patronage politics. More specifically, this paper will examine various political and socio-economic factors that can influence the outcome of the election. The main focus will be on macroeconomic factors and the relationship of the gubernatorial election candidate to the federal center. Identifying such factors and their statistical significance will serve as the main purpose of my paper. Key words: election, governors, patronage, voting, electoral behavior.
