In today's business and professional environment, employers and employees are increasingly faced with problems of burnout in the workplace, as well as questions about how to level this condition. Also, in modern culture, the question of what qualities affect an employee's career growth is acute, since for an employer it is an opportunity to hire a more successful and productive person to work, and for an applicant, in turn, it is an opportunity to more clearly assess their career prospects and motivations. Thus, the study raises the question of the influence of selfishness and cynicism on career growth and professional burnout, as well as the question of the relationship of these constructs. Within the framework of this study, the following tasks are highlighted: to conduct a theoretical review of the literature related to the study of the main constructs, as well as their interrelationships; to theoretically substantiate the predictive power of such personal qualities as selfishness and cynicism for professional burnout and career growth; to conduct an empirical study and analytically substantiate the predictive power of the constructs mentioned earlier. The results showed that career motivation is positively associated with the respondent's career position, and that it can indeed act as a way to assess career growth; selfishness prevents the occurrence of professional burnout syndrome; cynicism contributes to the symptoms of professional burnout; cynicism and selfishness can act as predictors for professional burnout and career growth.
