The direction of this visual research is directly related to the topic of the graduate qualification work: “Rebranding of the Totem Heritage Center in Ketchikan, Alaska”. The author hypothesizes that totemism as a phenomenon has had a global impact on modern life, and traces of totemism today can be found in many areas. The purpose of the visual study is to trace the evolution of traditional totems and their interpretation up to the present day, i.e. to examine how totemism in its familiar forms has acquired new meanings and implications in the modern world. In the course of the study, the author provides examples of transformations that have occurred with totems today, compared to historical examples.
