User Experience and Problem Solving Performance of Different Interfaces (Flat, Skeuomorphic and Material Design)

The recent past has seen significant changes in the design of digital user interfaces. The usability of different design types has always been a topic of debate. One way to evaluate interface usability is to conduct a visual search experiment. Previous research has not answered the question of which design is more effective. The speed of visual search is determined by factors such as the type of visual search and the novelty of the stimuli. The aim of this study is to identify the digital user interface design with the best usability and to understand the factors that influence it. The results are applicable to both design and cognitive research. Key Words: app icon, interface design, flat, skeuomorphism, neomorphism, novelty, visual search task
