Psychological, Esoteric and Religious Understanding of Spirituality as the Basis of Internal Conflict among Counseling Psychologists

In this qualitative study, we describe the internal conflict that arises among counseling psychologists due to the coexistence of esoteric, psychological, and religious views of spirituality. The relevance of the study was determined by the contradictory attitude towards the topic of spirituality in psychological communities and the fact that esotericism from a psychological point of view had previously been little studied. To fully disclose the topic under study, a guide was created and 12 semi-structured interviews were conducted. The method of phenomenological analysis was used. The result is an original classification of the experiences of counseling psychologists in situations of internal contradiction due to different views on spirituality.
