Emotional intelligence (EI) is one of the widely studied constructs in affective science, as it has a significant impact on interpersonal relationships, professional success, and personal well-being. Research shows that a high level of EI is associated with subjective well-being, the components of which are, among others, a large number of positive emotions and a minimal number of negative emotions. Thus, emotional intelligence may also be related to various mood characteristics such as affective balance, variability, instability, and inertia. This relationship may be due to the fact that people with high emotional intelligence are able to better understand, regulate and express their emotions, which directly affects their emotional state and mood stability in various life circumstances. The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and various aspects of mood. The study found significant positive correlations between emotional intelligence and affective balance and positive affect. In addition, significant positive correlations were found between emotional intelligence and instability and variability of positive affect.
