This paper investigates the main challenges faced by Russian participants in foreign trade activities when introducing their own goods to the Chinese market, and develops possible strategies to overcome the existing barriers for domestic companies. In preparation of the study, methods of observation, comparison and measurement were used, such as: interviews with market participants, analysis of statistical materials, study of Russian and foreign monographs and sources. The relevance of the paper lies in the need to generalize and comprehend the best practices of domestic and foreign market participants who have successfully entered and established themselves in the PRC market in order to develop a clear and simple algorithm of actions for Russian exporters seeking to develop new markets in the conditions of sanctions pressure against domestic businesses. The scientific novelty of the paper lies in the development of strategies for the gradual entry of Russian manufacturers into the Chinese market through the prism of the paradigm “control - costs - localization”, based on the assimilation of the experience of Western companies, state support measures and expert knowledge of the peculiarities of doing business by Chinese entrepreneurs. The paper concludes that the PRC market is promising for Russian entrepreneurs, provided that they develop a long-term strategy, are ready for a phased introduction of products to the market in the presence of positive feedback from Chinese consumers, ensuring the protection of intellectual property rights, as well as long-term stable sources of financing for current operations.
