India has the potential to become one of the world's largest economies in the foreseeable future. Due to the high rate of economic development, India needs sustainable energy development. The Sustainable Development Goals, established in 2015 by the UN General Assembly, highlight the role of energy as a key factor in solving environmental problems. According to the World Bank, India is already one of the countries with the largest greenhouse gas emissions and thus has the most significant impact on climate change. An analysis of the determinants of India's energy transition can be used to predict the rate of introduction of renewable energy sources in the country and determine the most promising directions for further development of India's energy sector. In this paper, using regression analysis of panel data, we identify factors that have the greatest impact on the share of electricity production from renewable energy sources.
