The purpose of the visual research “Features of the image of motherhood in Pedro Almodóvar's films” was to outline the main archetypes of motherhood that are found in the director’s work. The main task was to analyze Almodovar's films, which contain the image of the mother, and compare them with images of motherhood in the films of other directors. As a result, the visual and narrative features of Pedro Almodovar’s five main archetypes of motherhood were identified and analyzed: motherhood as competition, motherhood as protection, motherhood as loss, motherhood as a beginning and motherhood as association.
