The thesis «The conservative concept of religious freedom in the political and legal thought of Russia at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century» explores approaches to understanding religious freedom on the part of conservative thinkers in Russia in the period from the end of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century, when large-scale religious reforms were carried out aimed at implementation of freedom of religion and freedom of conscience. The author analyzes the concepts of such outstanding conservative thinkers as L.A. Tikhomirov, K.N. Leontyev, M.N. Katkov, K.P. Pobedonostsev and I.S. Berdnikov, revealing their vision of the role and place of religion in society, as well as their views on religious freedom. Drawing on a wide range of sources, which include legislative acts, office materials of government agencies and business correspondence, the author characterizes the legal status of religious denominations in the XIX century - AD. XX centuries The work involves a historical analysis of conservative approaches to religious freedom, which allows us to more fully illuminate the complex aspects of the relationship between church and state in Russian history.
