It is well known that due to many factors oil prices are subject to fluctuations and sometimes these fluctuations under the influence of the external environment are so significant that the largest market players have to react quickly to them. This applies to short- and long-term strategic planning, and the strategies chosen by companies should be flexible and adaptive. This paper examines the oil and gas industry and its key players through the prism of oil market volatility and related reactions to it. This study analyzes the long-term impact of the dynamics of world oil prices on the strategies of leading oil and gas companies from 2000 to 2023. Using the correlation matrix method, it was revealed that companies that have a more diversified business are the most resistant to the dynamics of world oil prices.
