In this work, an attempt is made to reconstruct the thesaurus of the medieval miniaturist using the example of the iconographic program of the bestiaries of the XII-XIV centuries. The first chapter provides a general description of the content of the bestiary, its sources, structure and texts included in it. The first part of the first chapter provides an overview of the main approaches to the classification of bestiaries in the twentieth century. The second part examines the history of the development of the iconographic program of Latin bestiaries and the main sources of its formation. The second chapter of this study presents an analysis of the methods of work of a medieval master using the example of miniatures of bestiaries of the XII-XIV centuries, including the approaches of a miniaturist to copying miniatures. In the third chapter, an attempt is made to reconstruct the possible sources of iconographic types of some miniatures of the bestiaries of the Dicta Chrysostomi group.
