The paper examines the organisation, combat use and factors that influenced the mood of the soldiers of the construction units of the Leningrad Front in 1941-1944. The first chapter will examine the process of organisation of construction troops and the tasks that the command set before them. The second chapter analyses the preparation by the construction units of the fortifications of Leningrad in 1941. This section also examines the peculiarities of the use of military builders in the defence battles of 1941 - 1942. This chapter then traces the changes in the tasks that had to be performed in 1943-1944. The third chapter is devoted to an analysis of the factors that influenced the attitudes of military construction workers during the defence of the city on the Neva and its de-blockade.
