Evolution of the Image of the Catalan Independence Movement in the British Press in 2017-2023.

This study examines the Catalan independence movement and its presentation in the media at the regional, national and international levels. In political science, the role of the media cannot be ignored, since today the media is a full-fledged "fourth branch of government" and plays an important role in conflicts, including domestic political ones. The media not only form certain opinions, in fact, constructing reality, but also reflect the points of view already existing in society. They have influence on the views and public position of the population, in particular, on the issue of separatism. The Catalan case demonstrates the participation of the media in the information confrontation within the state (the Spanish government and the Catalan Generalitat), and the formation of an image of the conflict outside the country, since the course of the conflict is of great interest in other European countries, especially in those whose governments have also faced or are facing separatist sentiments.
