An Exhibition Exploring the Abilities of Materials to Create Meanings

Educational Programme: Contemporary Art (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2024

Visual research is based on works where the concepts are based on the resistance of materials and meanings. In the examples given, the properties of the physical are inverted and substituted, giving weight to statements about immaterial issues. A statement expressed in form, in the context of conceptual but not theory-driven art, has the quality of opening the viewer's eyes, of speaking directly to them, but, importantly in our contemporary reality, of speaking without words. The study leads to the thesis that the simplicity of an artistic technique is directly proportional to the depth of the imprint it leaves on our perception. The aim of my work was to investigate the path the artist takes in working with the material and how the material itself goes beyond its intended purpose. The choice of the field of study of the work comes from the specificity of my artistic practice, as concepts are often born from the contradictions between material and meaning. It is this resistance that will form the basis of the works for the future thesis exhibition, which will explore the possibilities of materials to create meanings.
