Strategic Project Management System in the Pharmaceutical Company

Pharmaceutical companies, like many other companies of other economical areas practice the use of project management in their activities. Effective implementation of initiated projects is extremely important for the company as a whole. In this regard, the relevance of project management (PM) as a special type of management activity is also doubtless for pharmaceutical business. The object of the study is the Russian representative office of one of the international pharmaceutical companies. The subject of the study is the system of strategic project management. The goal of this research is to identify the key features and challenges in pharmaceutical project management, as well as to determine the degree of consistency of the strategic project management system used. Methodology: analysing primary and secondary information, as well as conducting a written survey and interviews to obtain the information required in the research. Structurally, this research paper consists of three chapters. The first one is devoted to the analysis of theoretical and methodological aspects of PM. The focus of the second chapter is on the specifics of the pharmaceutical industry and the projects implemented in this area of the economy. The third chapter analyses the project management system of the Russian representative office of an international pharmaceutical company.
