Throughout human life, from birth to death, cloth has been an integral part of our existence. This has led to it being endowed with special sacred properties. Fabric, which is untouched by the tailor's karma, often holds mystical significance, serves as a tool for concealment, and is an amulet. The research aims to identify the forms and functions of cloth that arise from covering the surrounding space within religious rituals, artistic activities, and everyday mundane routines. The work is based on identifying interrelationships between the identified areas through qualitative comparative visual and semantic analyses. The results of the research, firstly, demonstrate the general gravitation, the human desire to cover the valuable. Secondly, they show how in each section the fabric acquires its function: ritual in historical context, aesthetic in art and rational in everyday life. The study's results are presented in an illustrated book with sections dedicated to each highlighted characteristic. The theoretical conclusion can be applied to future studies on the material and its manifestations in different contexts. This information may be useful for fashion designers, tailors, and couturiers.
