This work is devoted to one of the most important aspects of ancient Russian society - military affairs. This study analyzes the tactics and strategy of ancient Russian troops in the period from 1135 to 1216. This period in historiography is characterized as an era of fragmentation. The princes sought to increase the territories under their control. There was a constant struggle for Kyiv. In internecine wars, troops improved their skills and tactics, and princes rose during the war. The work analyzed all complexes of actions of the ancient Russian troops both before and after the victory. The main reason for studying tactics is battle. According to strategy - political alliances and actions of direct impact. At work, restrictions on freedom in open space, seizure of water, assault and siege of cities, burning of townships and other aspects of military affairs.
