Given the high degree of population mobility and the specifics of the demography of different states throughout their history, understanding the mechanisms of influence of diasporas on the formation of the policy of the state in which they live in relation to the state that is their homeland becomes useful when analyzing the formation of foreign policy of states with large ethnic diasporas. Mexico and the Mexican diaspora in the U.S. are a good example, which can be used to examine in detail the specifics of diaspora politics and its influence on decision-making in relation to the diaspora homeland.
