The purpose of this work is to study how migration issues at the southern border affect relations between the United States and the Mexican state. Special attention in my research is paid to the period of the US leadership of the administrations of D. Trump and J. Biden. The object of the study is the relationship between the United States and Mexico for the period from 2017 to 2023. The subject of the study is the problem of illegal migration in bilateral relations during a given period. The historiographical base consists of legislative sources (these include such documents as: national legal acts, the Constitution of the United States and Mexico, official statements by the presidents of the United States and Mexico, bills of Congress); clerical (first of all, these are various statistics on immigration), journalistic (media materials (expert opinions, speeches by political figures, US news agencies) and expert analytical sources (articles in journals and scientific libraries).
